Oasis Poker

Basic casino rules

Overview

Oasis Poker is a variant of Caribbean Stud Poker: the player plays five cards against the dealer's hand and, before deciding to play or fold, may switch cards for a fee. Players do not compete with each other.

Switching cards

The fee depends on how many cards the player switches:

51 ante

Discarded cards do not return to play; new cards come from the top of the deck.

Dealer qualification and settlement

The dealer qualifies with ace-king or better. The lowest qualifying hand is ace, king, 4, 3, 2.

Strategy

With this strategy the house edge is about 1.04%.

Example 1: switching one card

PlayerKhQhJh10h3cDealerAcKd8s5h2c
Ante 100. The player switches the 3 of clubs for 1 ante (100) and draws the 9 of hearts: a king-high straight flush.

The dealer qualifies (ace-king). Ante +100, raise 200 × 50 = +10,000. The 100 switching fee stays with the casino.

Example 2: the dealer does not qualify

Player8s8dKc7h2sDealerQsJd9c6h3s
Ante 100; the player raises 200 with a pair of eights. The dealer has queen high and does not qualify.

The ante pays 1:1 (+100); the raise is returned without a win.
