Overview

Ultimate Texas Hold'em is a casino version of Texas hold'em played against the dealer. Players do not compete with each other: each compares the hand only with the dealer's hand.

Game procedure

Dealer qualification and settlement

The dealer opens (qualifies) with a pair or better. If the dealer does not qualify, the Ante is returned to the player (push), while the Blind and Play are settled as usual by comparing hands.

Trips is settled separately, on the player's hand only.

Blind pay table

The Blind wins only when the player beats the dealer. The Blind bonus pays on a straight or better; if the player wins with a lower hand, the Blind pushes. Pay tables vary between casinos; a typical table, also used in the trainer, is shown below.

Trips pay table

Trips pays on the player's best five-card hand regardless of the dealer's hand, of whether the dealer qualifies and of whether the player wins. In many casinos Trips wins even after a fold. A hand below three of a kind loses the Trips bet. Pay tables vary between casinos; the trainer's table is shown below.

Example hands

PlayerAh8hBoardKh9h4c2hQdDealerKcJs
Ante 100, Blind 100, Trips 100; before the flop the player bets Play 4x = 400. The player has an ace-high flush, the dealer a pair of kings: the dealer qualifies and the player wins. Ante +100, Play +400, Blind flush 3 to 2 = +150, Trips flush 7 to 1 = +700. Total +1,350.
PlayerQcJdBoardQh8s5c3d2hDealerAc10c
Ante 100, Blind 100; the player bets Play 2x = 200 after the flop. The player has a pair of queens, the dealer only ace high and does not qualify. Ante pushes, Play +200, Blind pushes (a pair is below a straight). Total +200.
Player9s9dBoardKd7c4hJs2sDealerKh5d
Ante 100, Blind 100; Play 3x = 300 before the flop. The player has a pair of nines, the dealer a pair of kings. The player loses the Ante, Blind and Play: 500.
Player3c2dBoard9h8c7d6s5hDealer4s4d
Ante 100, Blind 100, Trips 100; Play 1x = 100 on the river. The board is a nine-high straight and neither hand improves on it: both play the board, a tie, so Ante, Blind and Play push. Trips pays for the straight 4 to 1 = +400.
